Family Party: 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun - Review

Family Party: 30 Great Games Outdoor Fun
Ages: Everyone 10+

It says, "30 great games" - but it doesn't list them and "outdoors" should be taken with a grain of salt. The producers have neglected to include a manual for the game. I take it as a sign of disrespect for the game and for the player. Nonetheless, there are some fun games in the box. The games use both the remote and the nunchuk - A and B buttons mostly, and motion on the remote.

D3Publishers does more than imply that it is a "family " game - avatar choices go from kids to grandparents - a nice and unusual touch. You can play Challenge or Battle but once you select Challenge, you must progress to the next game in the group. If you select Battle, you can choose the ones you like to play and even play the same game over to get a higher score, since often the first try is just to figure out the game.

The games are organized under four different sections; Mind Games, Track and Field, Summer Camp, Martial Arts and Sports. This allows for a very diverse number of games: pole climb, obstacle race, unicycle ride, floating island jump , boxing, hammer strike, boat races, baseball and football. Instructions are given at the beginning of the game, but there is no easy way to retrieve them without starting over. Some are quite clever - I particularly liked the floating island jump.

Fun Factor: Games are fun in spite of the poor mechanics.
Female Factor: Avatars come in all sexes and all ages.
Player Friendly: Not at all.
