SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman
I'm amazed at the variety and quantity of game play that gets packed into a SpongeBob
game for the GBA. Basically the activity is searching for treasure, collecting doubloons
while avoiding jellyfish, sand worms and a variety of other sea-dwelling foes. Bob's
defense is a bubble wand with bubbles of various strengths and capabilities. Special
defense items become available after you complete two levels in a chapter. There are
five chapters, each with three levels to play through before the final confrontation with
the Dutchman. Graphics are good, SpongeBob looks like SpongeBob and level locations
are colorful and varied. The actions are limited to some simple combinations of moves
but that doesn't mean that it's a piece of cake. Sleep mode is a handy option if you want
to stop playing for awhile and don't want finish a level – or write down the password.
The CPU shuts down, saving your battery, while you go and eat dinner.
