Teenage Zombies - "Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys"
A clever title for a clever game - not a momentous game but
one that does justice to the title.
The earth has been so vanquished that the only defenders left are
zombies - and teenage zombies at that.
It's side scroller-land for three zombies each with unique talents;
Zack "Half-Pipe" Boyd, a legless skateboarder;
Lori "Lefty" Lopez, a former woman's basketball star,
and Finnigan "Fins" Magee, a swim-team member who acquired tentacles after his death.
Between the three of them they can dive into small places, reach high ledges, climb up walls,
grapple across wires, jump into the air and attack enemies in more ways than one.
Oh, and devour brain thingys with relish.
The enemies are formidable. Besides the mastermind Big Brain, there is his army of
brain thingys - bottled brains with weapons, those on mechanized treads, mind control brains,
telekinetic brains and if that is not enough - mutant rats and crocs and the final
insult - controlled humans.
Big Brain Zack bosses look like those brain improvement games - naturally.
You can only play as one zombie at a time but you can change on the fly with the shoulder
buttons or touch the graves with the stylus, and since no one zombie can actually navigate the levels,
you will be switching almost continuously.
Power-ups match the character - flaming vomit for Fin, various replacement devices
for Lefty's left arm, and speed and hover boards for Half-Pipe.
Some of these are necessary to get through certain barriers like electric fences.
There are a number of mini-games that occur between each world level and cool pages of cartoons.
In addition there are Big Brain Challenges - 15 games that challenge your brain.
Bet you didn't expect to get Brain Age as part of the deal.
Maybe Dr. Ryuta Kawashima is really the Big Brain.
